Jardin de Queensland

Have had a busy day today, mainly garden focussed - this garden is sooh tiny, but somehow there is still a lot to do, 'specially when you basically start from scratch in the tropics. One of our neighbour's also cut down a huge tree this week to open up more bricks and mortar for us to view, so we have been searching for some fast growing, bird loving, root friendly, flowering trees to eventually disguise this building, think we have found just the thing - the Golden Penda or Expo 88. I took the photo below of the Penda's (bee loving) flower one year ago when we were up in the Glass House Mountains. This Australian rainforest tree was selected as the theme plant for World Expo in Brisbane in 1988 - so we have our fingers crossed for some quick growth and building coverage!. On Sunday we have our local Paradise Springs residents meeting at the Golf Club - called this as the entry road to the Golf Club is - yes "Paradise Springs ". Most of the discussion will be tres serious - about the "Christmas in July Party" being held at the Golf Club in 4 weeks time. This morning we found some delightful tropical "Christmas" coloured aussie flora (all on the same bush - double planted I suspect) just up the street!.
