Wild night, suss morning, delightful lunch.

Another very wild and scary night - here we are on a "premium" site, paying a premium price (our choice), with the beach right in front of us, under a row of huge norfolk pines. All looked wonderful on Sunday when we arrived, and it will again. The authorities are now saying it is the worst storm pattern (a cyclone in my books) they have had since 1974 - 35 years, and my Aunts and cousins who live here say they have never seen anything like it. When we woke there was no wind, then by 8 a.m. it started all over again, and the rain was unbelievable. We decided to meet up with the family for lunch at the Colonial Golf Club - met Susan outside Auntie Nalda's apartment block, and we actually used the C.B radios to communicate between cars - so heavy was the rain. When there was a break the 3 of us went into Auntie's, she lives on the ground floor of the apartments in the photo below, which is right opposite the beach at Broadbeach.. There was some damage on her deck - 2 large plants were over, and a table from the apartment's deck above her had blown down onto her deck - the glass top was shattered and spread all over, the steel base landed right up against her sliding glass doors, fortunately not smashing them.

Broadbeach is normally a lovely beach to spend time on, took this short video below - it was churning up like a huge washing machine, soap suds and all.

No lifesavers on duty today - all beaches are closed.

We drove out to the Golf club - not a soul playing golf today - they would've needed a boat!!

Met up with Auntie Beryl (Gail, Wayne and Ash's mum), Ailsa (Auntie Nalda's daughter) and her husband Rod. The 7 of us had a great lunch - lots of catch up. Ailsa and Rod drove down from Brisbane to meet us, picking up Auntie Beryl on the way. Caught them all on video - pretty animated lot!

A lovely surprise - Ash and Sue (below) also joined us later.

Finished off the day by having afternoon tea back at Auntie Beryl's apartment - getting back to our premium site around 5pm, and yes more rain.

(L to R) Rod, Ails, Auntie Nalda (my godmother), the brig, Auntie Beryl and Susan.
